MISSION STATEMENT

Clean Galveston, Inc. d.b.a. Keep Galveston Beautiful (KGB) is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the preservation and beautification of Galveston Island through litter control, education and advocacy.

We are a proud member of the Keep Texas Beautiful and the Keep America Beautiful organizations. We are a community based membership organization dedicated to making the Island of Galveston “as pretty as it oughta be.”

The purpose of this organization shall be charitable and educational within the meaning of section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 as amended and to promote public interest in the general improvement of the environment of the City of Galveston. To initiate, plan, direct and coordinate programs for litter control for the community on a sustainable basis; to implement and maintain the Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful System; and to advise and recommend plans and distribute grants to other agencies and the public for the beautification and education of the City of Galveston.

Kempner Capital Management -- Joe Levy Award

Presented to a person or business who is active with Clean Galveston and making a difference within the community.

Mod Coffee House -- Pacesetter Award

Presented to a person or business who has set the pace for neighborhood development and is always neat from curbside to alley, to dumpster and influencing others to take pride in the neighborhood.

Galveston Island Tree Conservancy -- Quality of Life Award

Presented to an individual, business or organization who has been instrumental in improving the quality of life through dedication and perseverance, and has raised public awareness in all segments of the community.

Russ O’Connor -- Newcomer Award

Presented to a new Board member who stands head and shoulders above the others; who is eager to participate and is always willing to help.

Gary Schero -- Jane Hamilton Helping Hand Award

Presented to an individual, business or organization for continuous support in volunteer efforts for projects and programs of the organization.

Robert Evans -- Jim Anderson Green Thumb Award

Presented to an individual, business or organization for continuous support of the Back Garden Tour and the community garden.

Bobby Hicks -- Special Friends Award

Presented to a business or organization that supports Clean Galveston’s special events or programs.

Kathy Huber (Houston Chronicle)-- Clean Copy Award

Presented to an individual, business or organization who has promoted Clean Galveston’s projects in the media.

Julie Ann Brown -- Chairman’s Award

Presented to an individual for continuous support of goals and ideals of the organization.
